Reiki

Reiki is another side of spirituality I've been quite interested in for the past few months. Alot of people look at Reiki as some 'New Age' practice, but it actually dates back hundreds of years. I've had a couple of distance reiki sessions courtesy of a freind in Los Angeles that sent Reiki energy to me while we were on different sides of the country. These experiences were pretty eye opening and amazing. Throughout the sessions Richard (Grim) has done with me I felt a strong heat and tingling sensation throughout my body. The only way I can describe it is it feels like these little bugs crawling on you or something, but not in a bad way like you are probably thinking. It's like a spiritual high that is really hard to describe. The tingling sensation is very strong and it promotes the healing of your body, mind, and spirit. All I can say is TRY IT.

Richard (Grim) also gave me my first Reiki attunement, I'm hoping to get attuned to a level 3 Reiki Master someday. I plan on studying Reiki more in depth sometime soon and really getting into it, I've been extremely intrigued by it ever since Richard gave me my first Reiki healing. I have to admit that I thought it was all a bunch of BS until I actually experienced it myself. Thanks for everything and for making me a beleiver and opening my eyes Grim. haha.

Anyway, here's a breif lesson of Reiki for anyone wanting to know more, I got this off the web from wikipedia.com:

Reiki (霊気 or レイキ, Reiki? IPA: /ˈreɪkiː/) is a form of spiritual practice, used as a complementary therapy, proposed for the treatment of physical, emotional, and mental diseases. Mikao Usui developed Reiki in early 20th century Japan, where he said he received the ability of 'healing without energy depletion' after three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama. Practitioners use a technique similar to the laying on of hands, which they say will channel "healing energy" (ki). Practitioners state that energy flows through their palms to bring about healing and that the method can be used for self-treatment as well as treatment of others.

Derivation of name
The name Reiki derives from the Japanese pronunciation of two Japanese characters that describe the energy itself: '霊 rei' (meaning 'unseen' or 'spiritual') and 気 ki (Chinese qi, here meaning 'energy' or 'life force'). In English, the meaning of Reiki is often given as 'universal life energy' (a translation used by Hawayo Takata, see History). The noun commonly refers to either the energy or the therapeutic method which uses the energy. Reiki is also used as a verb and an adjective. Japanese speakers use the term as a generic 'spiritual power' while the Usui Method of Reiki Healing is specifically Usui reiki shiki ryoho.

Theory
Reiki teachings state that there is a universal 'life force' energy, which can be accessed by practitioners to induce a healing effect. It is claimed by believers that anyone can gain access to this energy by means of an attunement process carried out by a Reiki Master.
The belief is that the energy will flow through the practitioner's hands whenever the hands are placed on, or held near a potential recipient, who can be clothed. Some teachings stress the importance of the practitioner's intention or presence in this process, while others claim that the energy is drawn by the recipient's injury to activate or enhance the natural healing processes. Going further, the belief is that the 'energy' is 'intelligent', making diagnosis unnecessary.
A second level of training, including another initiation, is said to equip the practitioner to perform Reiki treatments from a distance. This method, it is stated, involves the use of special symbols to form a temporary connection between the practitioner and the recipient, regardless of location, and then to send the Reiki energy. Techniques are also taught whereby Reiki can be sent to a specific point in time, either in the past or the future.
The energy involved in a Reiki treatment is said to be 'from the Universe,' rather than the personal energy of the practitioner, and is therefore inexhaustible. (Some teachings say that the energy enters the practitioner through the crown chakra at the top of the head, before being emitted from the hands.) As a consequence, Reiki practitioners are taught that they can treat themselves with Reiki.
Reiki is also used by practitioners as preventative medicine, as it is claimed that the energy encourages healing before any noticeable symptoms have emerged. Another consequence of the simplicity of Reiki is that it can be taught to children.
Some teachers state that if, on some level, the intended recipient does not wish to be healed, the energy will not flow.
Reiki is described by adherents as a holistic therapy which brings about healing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. It is said that healing may occur in any or all of these domains in a single treatment, without any conscious direction needed by either the practitioner or the recipient.

Akashic Records

I've been looking into this subject some lately and have read a little about it. I have read one autobiography on Edgar Cayce that talks a good deal about the Akashic Records. I have had a pretty vivid dream I remember where I was reading out of a book and when I woke up I was still repeating the words as I was reading them. Strange. Anyway, I found this on the web that explains the Akashic records a little more:

Akashic Records

A theosophical term referring to an universal filing system which records every occurring thought, word, and action. The records are impressed on a subtle substance called akasha (or Soniferous Ether). In Hindu mysticism this akasha is thought to be the primary principle of nature from which the other four natural principles, fire, air, earth, and water, are created. These five principles also represent the five senses of the human being.

Some indicate the akashic records are similar to a Cosmic or collective consciousness. The records have been referred to by different names including the Cosmic Mind, the Universal Mind, the collective unconscious, or the collective subconscious. Others think the akashic records make clairvoyance and psychic perception possible.

It is believed by some that the events recorded upon that akasha can be ascertained or read in certain states of consciousness. Such states of consciousness can be induced by certain stages of sleep, weakness, illness, drugs, and meditation so not only mystics but ordinary people can and do perceive the akashic records. Some mystics claim to be able to reanimate their contents like they were turning on a celestial television set. Yogis also believe that these records can be perceived in certain psychic states.

Certain persons in subconscious states do read the akashic records. An explanation for this phenomena is that the akashic records are the macrocosm of the individual subconscious mind. Both function similarly, they possess thoughts which are never forgotten. The collective subconscious gathers all thoughts from each subconscious mind which can be read by other subconscious minds.

An example of one who many claimed successfully read the akashic records is the late American mystic Edgar Cayce. Cayce did his readings in a sleep state or trance. Cayce's method was described by Dr. Wesley H. Ketchum who for several years used Cayce as an adjunct for his medical practice. "Cayce's subconscious...is in direct communication with all other subconscious minds, and is capable of interpreting through his objective mind and imparting impressions received to other objective minds, gathering in this way all knowledge possessed by endless millions of other subconscious minds." Apparently Cayce was interpreting the collective subconscious mind long before the psychiatrist C.J. Jung postulated his concept of the collective unconscious.

In my dreams

I thought I would start keeping a history of prophetic (or precognitive) dreams that I have. I've been having some pretty undeniable dreams of this variety for a while now and thought it would be interesting to start recording them. I'll start with my latest one and work my way back and record some of my past dreams when I get more time. Here's one I had a week or two ago:

In the dream I saw my sister's laptop and I saw someone handing the laptop to her. They was a broken key on the keyboard and this person had fixed the key for her. I had this dream on a Friday morning.

I saw my sister the next day and told her about the dream. She got a funny look on her face (she already knows I have these types of dreams quite frequently) and told me that the computer guy at the school she works at had fixed her laptop the day before (Friday), and that it was indeed a broken key that he had replaced on the computer.

It seems like more often than not, when I have these types of dreams that the event I'm dreaming about is happening at exactley the same time I'm dreaming about it or very close to the time I'm dreaming about it.

I've been thinking alot about this lately. Like can it be explained by science or is it something beyond the grasp of science? I read the other day that over 50% of the world's population says that they have had atleast one pyschic or paranormal experience in their life. Half of those experiences were prophetic or precognitive dreams.

The has me wondering that maybe everyone else's past experiences are maybe somehow in everyone else's subconscious or something. Is this where the term "Mass Consciousness" came from? I've heard alot about the "Mass Counsciousness" theory but never really gave it much thought before, but now I think I know what they mean when they say it. If the majority of people that have had a psychic or paranormal experience have had dreams of this nature, and dreams occur in our subconscious of course, then I would have to beleive that all of our subconsciouses are somehow linked together or can be tuned into one another.

This poses alot of other questions I've been thinking about as well, like space and time, but thats another blog that I'll try to put into words sometime soon.

I've had hundreds of similar dreams like the one listed above. I'll post more of them when I get time.

The Archangel Michael

A few months ago I was reading a book and the last line I read before I sat the book down to go play on the Internet was "Always remember the Henry Ford quote - whether you think you can or you think you can't - you're right either way". I thought to myself this was a very good quote and then went to go play around on the Internet. I started chatting with this girl whom I'd never talked to before on Yahoo Messenger. Out of nowhere she says "The Archangel Michael is standing right behind me and he has a message for you". I was naturally skeptical, so I'm like "Oh really, well what does he have to say to me?". So the girl replies "He says it would have some special meaning to you - he says to tell you to always remember the Henry Ford quote: Whether you think you can or you think you can't - you're right either way". She went on to tell me a few more encouraging thoughts from Michael.

Last week I was talking again with the same girl, who I have since became pretty good Friends with. So for some reason or another I was feeling a bit down that day and I was talking to her again on the Internet and I took a break from the computer to go smoke a cigarette outside. While I'm sitting outside in my mind's eye (or third eye) I kept seeing my aura turn to a magnificent golden color and just radiating from me, I thought this was very unusual because I don't ever sit around and think about my aura much, so I acknowledged the thought I was having and went back inside and didn't think much else about it. Then when I sit back down to start talking to my Friend again, she says "God and the Angels are with you right now and are surrounding you with the golden light of the god force energy," My jaw dropped. hahaha. I hadn't even told her about my thoughts while I was outside. ha ha.

Synchronicity

If you're life has been anything like mine over the past few years, you've probably had some experience with synchronicity. The following is an excerpt from Sylvia Browne's "Phenomenon" book, it helps to explain synchronicity far better than I could have put into words:

Synchronicity is a close relative of coincidence. The word "synchronicity" was popularized by the brilliant Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, who was in his office with a patient one day discussing Egypt when a beetle known as an Egyptian scarab walked across his desk. Jung found the word "coincidence" too ordinary to describe an Egyptian beetle, thousands of miles from where it belonged, appearing at the exact moment he was talking about Egypt. It was a clear sign to Jung that this universe God created is not random and chaotic, but ordered, perfect and patterned - in a word, synchronized, from which Jung coined "synchronicity."

Synchronicity, is an especially meaningful coincidence. Like Jung's Egyptian scarab, it always involves some kind of unmistakable physical sign, not only to call your attention to the magical harmony of the universe but also to give you tangible proof that you are exactly where you charted yourself to be, exactly when, exactly with whom - God, who co wrote your chart with you, is giving you a visible thumbs-up, a nod to say, "Yes, I am with you, and I am watching, and at this moment you are in perfect sync with your blueprint. Good work."

True synchronicity is not likely to happen as often in our lives as coincidences are. But watching for it, and recognizing it when it occurs, means catching a chance for a private smile between you and God.
